Casa Encantada

A 1920s Spanish Revival estate originally designed by architect Robert Law Weed was in dire need of revitalization. Our goal was to restore the home and its grounds, but also re-design spaces, inside and out, to accommodate a modern way of living. We also helped the owner with specialty fixtures and furnishings, both new and antique. The project was a labor of love for our team as we worked closely with the homeowner to thoughtfully restore nearly every inch of space. The heating and cooling systems, electrical, windows, roof, porches, landscape were all replaced. The interior of the space was reimagined, maintaining the historic elements like original terracotta tile, wood trim, doors and intricate beams and railings were brought back to life. KBID reconfigured the entire second floor to accommodate an additional bathroom and laundry room. The project spanned three years and ended with a home that feels thoughtfully in tune with Weed’s original intent and a few intentional areas of special celebration. Casa Encantada or “House of Delight”, now sings in unison, historic architecture and materials with the past in mind. Wood, stucco, terracotta, steel, copper and stone create the backdrop to a delightful home for the next 100 years.
