INTERIOR DESIGNER

Mid-Level (4-8 Years), Full Time

As a Senior Interior Designer at KBID, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage projects and team members from design to construction. Our small firm setting will require you to work on a variety of projects, ranging from high-end single family homes to small commercial spaces as a project manager and collaborative design and technical lead to our younger team members. You will play a crucial role in creating exceptional interior environments that meet code requirements and reflect our clients’ needs and aspirations. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for design excellence, a strong understanding of industry standards, proficiency in technical knowledge and a dedication to delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior designers and project managers to develop design concepts and plans for various projects.

  • Complete and manage design assignments that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documents

  • Listens to the client and adjust layout, materiality, and overall design as needed to provide thoughtful design solutions to meet the functional and aesthetic goals of the project

  • Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, lighting, and plumbing fixtures

  • Complete detailed furniture specification packages and provide budgets & quotes for residential and some small commercial projects

  • Lead the production of detailed drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

  • Prepare finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction

  • Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts

  • Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators

  • Collaborate and contribute to KBID design team and process to develop designs

  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to contribute fresh ideas and perspectives to projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field from and accredited school

  • 4-8+ years of interior design experience in multiple project types including workplace, hospitality, retail, and residential preferred

  • NCIDQ or ARE license required

  • Experience in working in all design phases; SD, DD, CD, CA/CO

  • High proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Excel, Word and Bluebeam

  • Ability to produce full set of code compliant construction documents including architectural floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, finish plans, interior elevations, casework elevations, door schedule, interior glazing elevations and schedules for lighting, plumbing, and appliances, and detailing for custom design conditions.

  • Knowledge of furniture, finishes, material, color selections, and specifications

  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be self-starting, dedicated, and work efficiently with a passion to learn and grow
